Who We Are

Toronto Joy is…

a community that comes together to serve people facing barriers to food and essentials.

Through volunteer shifts and gatherings, the act of serving creates space for kindness and honest connection to grow, for us and for the wider community.

We believe that serving others also creates a sense of belonging amongst those who are serving, and a quiet reminder that we’re not so different from each other.

Whether we’re serving a meal, sharing a conversation, or simply showing up, Toronto Joy is about service first, and everything good that comes from it.

Everyone is welcome!

Our Mission

To nourish everyone facing barriers with food and essentials, and in doing so, build our community, people who feel truly connected through serving others.

Our Vision

A world where everyone facing barriers has a reliable access to nourishing food and essentials, and where serving others helps people feel they truly belong.

Organizer – Amar Khanderia

Born and raised in Toronto, Amar has also spent time in India, an experience that shaped the way he sees community and service. In India, he was involved in community initiatives focused on education, water access, and collective well-being. Back in Toronto, he has supported nonprofits and causes connected to mental health, humanitarian relief, children, justice-related initiatives, the environment, and more.

Today, Amar continues this path through his work as a facilitator, coach, community organizer, and author of Walking with Shakti. He creates spaces for reflection, connection, and honest conversation, while supporting initiatives that serve those in need.

At the heart of it all, his intention remains simple: to serve the community in the best way he can, creating space for everyone to connect and grow.
