Volunteering at The Stop
ABOUT THE EVENT

A few of you have asked for more regular ways to get involved and give back. One opportunity we found is The Stop, a community food centre right here in West Toronto.
What The Stop does
The Stop runs Emergency Food Access, Community Building, and Urban Agriculture programs across three locations (1884 Davenport Rd, 601 Christie St, and 729 St Clair West). Their Urban Agriculture program includes the Green Barn, a greenhouse and year round farmers market, plus community gardens nearby. Produce grown there goes straight back into their food programs, feeding neighbours who need it.

Volunteering
This is for anyone looking for an ongoing, regular commitment. Must be 16 or older. The Stop asks for a minimum of 3 months, and you’ll pick one of two shift options:
– Weekly shift, one 3 to 5 hour shift a week.
– Substitute shift, twice a month.
Shifts run weekdays 8am to 4pm, with some Saturday availability at the Farmers’ Market.
You’ll apply directly through The Stop using the form below. They run their own info sessions, interviews, and a trial shift before placing you in a role.
Prefer something one time instead of ongoing? The Stop also runs group volunteer sessions, hands in the dirt for a couple hours. It’s $100 a person, with a $1,000 minimum total, so we’d need around 10 people to make it happen (up to 15 max).
If that sounds fun, send us an email at hello@torontojoy.org
Reach out if you’ve got questions.
Thanks.
